La Salud Week of Cultural Resistance

Join La Salud in celebrating our annual Week of Cultural Resistance!!! (March 24th - March 27th)

Cultural Resistance is the practice of using cultural expressions like art, literature, and traditions to challenge dominant power structures, often in the face of oppression. 

During this week, we are excited to collaborate with student organizations to offer events and workshops to attend and learn more about topics related to cultural resistance and celebrating the importance of cultural tradition and community. At the end of this week, we will conclude with a closing ceremony which will include a panel, folklorico performance, and dinner!

Monday, March 24th

    • Health Policy in the Current Climate hosted by Middle Eastern North African Students in Public Health (MENAPH)

    • Conchas With a Cause: Concha Fundraiser Supporting Immigrant Communities hosted by La Salud in partnership with Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights
    • Week of Cultural Resistance Closing Ceremony hosted by La Salud and Disability Advocacy Coalition of Health Professionals (DACHP)

    The Muslim Students in Public Health are happy to announce their 2nd Annual Community Iftar (dinner) on Monday, March 24th! This year’s theme is centered around hope & resilience. 

    In the spirit of Ramadan and with the end of the semester coming around, Muslim Students of Public Health is happy to share a space for our school community to get together! Thus, this is open to all students, staff, and faculty to attend. Please feel free to bring your family and loved ones with you. There will be free food, some chai, and a good time! :-) 


    You do not need to be observing the fast to attend! RSVP is appreciated for the food order but not mandatory for participation!
