Listening circles are spaces to share perspectives and experiences in a small group.

We aspire to provide a space to discuss important dije topics and themes with guidelines to ensure care and respect to all who participate. Topics are selected by the Student Advisory Board and dije student staff.

Circles will be facilitated by Tyler Theel (Student Support Specialist) and two graduate students with experience in dije-related service and affinity group work, Lissette Gamez (dije Office) and David DeLaRosa (Student Advisory Board).

TOPIC: "Actualizing a Culture of Self-Care" was chosen with the help of the dije Student Advisory Board. Our hope is that this topic will allow participants to express their experiences, feelings, and thoughts around self-care and the ways in which our environments can support or challenge our well-being.

Questions:

  • What is your name, where are you from, and what brought you to this circle?
  • What have you been thinking and/or feeling about when reflecting on your experiences with self-care?
    • What are your thoughts and feelings around notions of self-care?
    • What are your successes and challenges with self-care?
  • What is the hardest thing for you when you reflect on actualizing self-care?
    • What is challenging about actualizing self-care in your life (in your environments?)
