CGIS GCC Information Sessions: Spring 2026

GCCs offer a unique opportunity to take what students learn on campus at U-M and apply it abroad in a fun and exciting hands-on class taught by a U-M professor.

GCCs include two components:

  • An on-campus course during the winter semester
  • A 3-week, off-campus field experience that takes place during the following summer.

CGIS is offering 8 GCC programs for Spring 2026 across four continents! Check out the information sessions by program below.

CGIS Advisor Will Clancy / Professor Victor Fanucchi

Join Professor Victor Fanucchi and CGIS Advisor Will Clancy to learn more about the CGIS: Global Course Connections (GCC) in France - Paris on Film program. This GCC program offers the unique opportunity to pair your on-campus winter studies with an exciting hands-on 3-week global experience taught by Professor Fanucchi in the summer.

Paris lays claim to the title of the birthplace of cinema, and from the premiere of the Lumiere Brothers’ cinematograph in 1895 to the present day, a robust French film industry, joined by Hollywood and filmmakers worldwide, have pointed their cameras at Paris as a setting and subject as well. In the Paris-based extension of FTVM 203 "Paris on Film" we will visit the locations depicted in films we've studied and compare reality with fiction. We will explore the creative processes of cinematic storytelling and cinematography by looking at specific depictions of Paris.
