International Center Orientation Encore Series (Fall 2026)

Join us for an engaging and informative workshop focused on the dental care resources available to students through the University's Dental School, including information about the University's new student dental insurance option. Whether you're exploring preventive care, need more specialized treatment, or want to understand your insurance benefits, this session will help you navigate the resources available to you.

During this workshop, you will learn:

• An overview of the University's new student dental insurance plan, including eligibility, covered services, and how to make the most of your benefits.

• How to become a patient at the Dental School, including how to schedule your first appointment and what to expect during the intake process.

• A detailed overview of the services offered, from routine preventive care and cleanings to more complex procedures such as fillings, root canals, crowns, and other specialty treatments—many available at reduced rates.

Kickstart your career journey with the University Career Center (UCC)! This session introduces you to the University Career Center’s (UCC) wide range of resources that support international students, from career coaching and resume reviews to job search tools and networking. You’ll learn how to schedule appointments, explore workshops, and leverage the community toolkit. We’ll also share strategies for finding internships and job opportunities that are friendly to international students and building your professional network. Whether you’re just starting your career exploration or actively seeking opportunities, this session will give you the tools and confidence to succeed.  Lunch will be provided.

Every country has norms for what is acceptable and unacceptable, and similarly for what is legal and illegal in that particular country. This session will offer important information on what is and is not permitted in the United States. Learn this information now; don’t risk being embarrassed, or even fined or arrested! 

The session will also include a brief overview of landlord-tenant law, including information about what your landlord is and is not permitted to do, and your rights and obligations as a tenant. Avoid possible problems and prepare for a good relationship with your landlord by learning this important information now. Lunch will be provided.

International students are among those frequently targeted by scammers. This presentation discusses the scams faced by students at college, the warning signs to watch for and how students can protect themselves.

The presenters are committed to helping our community recognize, avoid, and report fraudulent activity. By understanding how scams work and knowing where to seek help, you can protect yourself and others. 

This presentation will provide detailed information on how to use the University's required health insurance for international students and scholars (the International Student/Scholar Health Insurance Plan). You will learn how and where to obtain medical treatment if needed, and how understanding your health insurance can help you avoid unnecessary expenses.  Lunch will be provided.

Are you new to driving in the United States? Driving conditions and customs may be different than what you are used to in your home country. This workshop will provide information to help you prepare for driving in the U.S., including driving tips, driving etiquette, and important skills to keep you safe on the roads in good and bad weather.
