The U-M Library Sustainability Open House will showcase how library units support environmental sustainability through everyday practices, services, spaces, and collections. Visitors will be invited to explore participating library locations and learn about sustainability-related work such as conservation and materials reuse, mending and creative reuse, digital preservation and sustainable data storage, energy conservation in library facilities, seed sharing, and climate-related library resources. The event will function as a drop-in open house rather than a single guided tour, with participating spaces open during coordinated time blocks (Buhr units: 10AM-12PM, Hatcher-Shapiro units: 12PM-2PM).

Welcome to Michigan will happen at all Dining Halls during the lunch period which varies from Dining Hall to Dining Hall, so you can tell folks to check the dining website (dining.umich.edu).

STPP is excited to welcome three of our recent alumni, Tyler Baird (MPP/SEAS MS '25), Ana Boyd (MPP/SEAS MS '25), and Zack Quirk (Earth and Environmental Sciences PhD '24) for an engaging conversation about their educational paths and current work in energy and environmental policy.

(Draft) Building on the momentum of last year’s event, the 2026 Climate-Health Mixer will bring together U-M researchers from across campus who are working at the intersection of climate and health. The event will showcase the breadth of climate-health research occurring across campus, create opportunities for meaningful interdisciplinary connections, and help strengthen a vibrant, collaborative climate-health research community.

Come hear about the UM building tune up program, where we're applying it, and how it helps us work towards our carbon neutraility and energy efficiency goals.

Join us for "From Measurement to Movement: How Data Can Drive Climate Action," a fireside chat with Tim Mohin, CEO of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and former CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative. Drawing on his deep expertise in corporate sustainability, Tim will unpack how standardized carbon accounting became the backbone of corporate and government climate action—and where it still falls short. Attendees will get a candid, insider's look at the gap between sustainability pledges and actual emissions reductions, including the thorny debates over Scope 3 accounting, net zero claims, and greenwashing. This event will be a fireside chat between Tim Mohin and Erb MBA/MS students, Reilly Gertiz and Wendy Palomino Alvarez.

A climate café is a welcoming space where fears and uncertainties about our climate and ecological crises can be safely expressed. Together, we create a space where participants are encouraged to pause, connect, and talk about their experiences with the environment and climate change. We aim to provide uninterrupted discussion time and ensure that everyone has a chance to speak and be heard. U-M School of Social Work will be hosting two Climate Cafés:

Virtual: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 5 pm-6:30 pm EST

In-Person at the School of Social Work: Friday, October 2, 2026 at 12-1:30 pm EST

This will be an interactive, nonpartisan workshop led by Kye Lynne from the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. Students will learn about the connection between elections, environmental issues, and public health, and participate in postcard writing to specific decision-makers.
