Looking for a way to learn how hair and ritual healing can be combined? Join us for the Take To Event as we walk to the Institute for the Humanities to hear Tzu Poré in conversation with Kahn Santori Davison. Sign up, and read the Institute for the Humanities' official event description: Detroit barber and artist Tzu Poré talks with writer Kahn Santori Davison about Poré's project Shifting Roots. The project fuses symbolic hair design, ritual healing, and fine art into one unified ecosystem of transformation. Through intentional grooming, visual storytelling, and community activation, this initiative presents identity as terrain—where hair becomes soil, and fine art becomes the bloom. Poré will share how his cultural roots shape his work in the garden, on canvas, and as a trained barber/cultural griot.

Come immerse yourself in traditional Korean music from a renowned ensemble!

Fellow and Institue for the Humanities Assistant Professor, Sanne Ravengergen. The "Hear, Here" series aims to facilitate conversations around new research in the humanities. In this talk, photographic, textile, and other material archives are explored to uncover lived experiences in colonial Indonesia.
