This interactive workshop helps participants explore how subtle comments and everyday interactions can shape the experiences of students and colleagues in research environments. Together we will examine their impact on belonging, performance, and mentoring relationships. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize common moments where language or behavior can unintentionally cause harm

  • Understand the cumulative impact of these moments on individuals and communities

  • Practice strategies to respond in ways that foster acknowledgment and respect
