Culture Under the Microscope Series

This series is designed for PhD students and emerging scientists to gather skill and knowledge in intercultural communication, fostering inclusive lab environments, recognizing our privilege and career & community pathway building. Ideally, participants will attend all of the series workshops to be best equipped to navigate the diversity of the scientific research space.

Lunch will be provided at each workshop.

This interactive workshop helps participants uncover how unconscious perceptions and automatic judgments shape interactions in research environments. Together we will explore their impact on decision-making, collaboration, and mentorship. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how unconscious bias operates in lab and clinical settings
  • Recognize how automatic judgments can affect teamwork and evaluation
  • Practice strategies to slow down and make more intentional choices
