Culture Under the Microscope Series

This series is designed for PhD students and emerging scientists to gather skill and knowledge in intercultural communication, fostering inclusive lab environments, recognizing our privilege and career & community pathway building. Ideally, participants will attend all of the series workshops to be best equipped to navigate the diversity of the scientific research space. 

Lunch will be provided at each workshop.

This interactive workshop helps participants explore the many forms of privilege and power dynamics that exist in society and research environments. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Learn strategies to navigate power dynamics in the lab
  • Understand what privilege is and the role it plays in research environments 
  • Identify their own privilege and how to use it responsibly
