Motivational Interviewing Expert Dawn Clifford, PhD, RD, will lead a hour workshop to enhances skills in weight inclusive care provision. We all live in a world steeped in diet culture. Our patients, who are often experiencing weight stigma, believe that the pursuit of weight loss is a viable path. Researchers have found that weight loss isn't necessary for improved health and well-being and that the pursuit of weight loss is linked to weight cycling and disordered eating. How do we steer patients in focusing on health habits that support a more holistic vision of health instead of promoting weight loss, while also providing patient-centered care? In this session you will learn how to use motivational interviewing to introduce weight inclusive approaches with your patients in a way that supports their autonomy.
