ME Engineering Your Career: WN 2025

Interested in learning how ME students have navigated their time at U-M and pursued different careers after graduating? 

Join us for a series of career discussions with ME alumni where you can learn more about their personal journeys as mechanical engineers. This is also a great opportunity to meet and connect with other ME undergrads, grad students, and postdocs. 

Accessibility Information

  • Presenters will speak using a microphone.
  • We encourage attendees to refrain from wearing strong fragrances to be respectful of those with environmental sensitivities or allergies.
  • We welcome masking and testing for COVID-19 prior to attending these events to help protect participants who are immunocompromised or have an increased situational risk. Medical masks and hand sanitizer will be provided at the event.

Lunch will be provided to registered attendees and is capped due to room capacity limits, but last minute drop-ins are welcome as space allows.

Laine Chan

Laine Chan is a graduate of the University of Michigan's Mechanical Engineering Department, having completed the SUGS program earning her Masters' Degree in 2019 and her Bachelors' Degree in 2018. She has spent the last 5 years in the energy sector, starting her career in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Coca, Ecuador working in field operations before moving to Houston, Texas. In Houston, Laine has had several roles in Mechanical Engineering ranging from modeling and simulation to design and testing. Currently, she is the Americas' Technology Development and Engagement Manager at SLB where she specializes in early career development of the technical population in North and South America. Laine was on the 2022 Netflix show "Dance Monsters" and performs in Houston, most recently appearing in The Garden Theatre's "Bonnie and Clyde".
