Janine Chouinard and Donavin Stoops, U-M Alumni & Currently Serving Peace Corps Volunteers

Join us for a casual meet and greet with University of Michigan alumni and currently serving Peace Corps Volunteers, Janine and Donavin! They will be back in the U.S. visiting family and will join us in Ann Arbor for the afternoon!

Janine Chouinard is an educator interested in trauma-informed practices, language teaching, and equity in the classroom. She graduated from the School of Education's SecMAC program in 2023 and decided to pursue a pre-pandemic dream of joining the Peace Corps. Janine is currently serving as a TEFL volunteer in a rural Colombian town about an hour from Bogotá. When Janine isn't teaching, she loves to hike, read, and learn to play the guitar.

Donavin Stoops graduated from the University of Michigan College LSA in 2023 with a degree in Economics and Spanish. He is currently serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Andean region of Colombia, where he supports rural students in developing their English language skills and broadening their perspectives of the world. After his service, Donavin hopes to pursue a career in international development with a focus on Latin America. In his free time, he enjoys immersing himself in Colombian culture, hiking, and baking.

Note: This event will be held in-person, but a livestream link has been added for those who have already left town. If you will be joining us virtually, please type "virtual" into the field about food/dietary restrictions. Thank you!
