2024 First-Generation College Student Celebration Week

The University of Michigan and the First-Gen Gateway celebrate first-generation college students November 4th - November 8th in honor of National First-Generation College Student Day! All week long, we will be putting on events to support and bring visibility to the nearly 4,000 first-generation college students on our campus.



My First-Gen Legacy - Photo Submission and Gallery Walk for National First-Generation Celebration Day (Information to Come)

First-Generation Gateway located in the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (3rd floor of the Student Activities Building)

Everyone is invited to submit a photo of them and their family and community to be printed and placed on the wall in the First-Generation Gateway. During this event, students can submit their photos, which will be printed and placed on the wall, and attendees are invited to come and view this photo installation and enjoy snacks. The photo installation will remain up for the semester. 

There will be a raffle for students submitting photos to receive a gift. 


People who register for this event will receive an email with the photo submission link closer to First-Gen Week.
