PHSAD 37th Annual Health Equity Conference

Our 37th Annual Health Equity Conference, "Community Roots in Wellness: Reimagining the Scope of Mental Health in Public Health Practice Through Strengthening Community", will be held at Palmer Commons on Saturday, April 13, from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. This year's conference aims to highlight the importance of community care and mental wellness within public health practice and the power of interpersonal connections. In the spirit of strengthening community, all students and staff members at the University of Michigan are welcome to attend our conference. The conference will feature a keynote address and panelists that include University of Michigan alumni, faculty, and experts in the field of public health, social work, and mental health. In addition to these activities, there will also be interactive workshops and networking opportunities to foster collaboration and information exchange among participants. To ensure that this event is accessible to as many people as possible, the keynote address will be available on livestream. Please enroll here to view the live stream.

Through this Health Equity Conference, PHSAD hopes to achieve the following goals: to educate students, public health practitioners, researchers, and the general community on how to integrate community care into public health practice in order to support mental wellness among underserved communities; to provide participants with information and resources to be able to achieve their mental wellness goals; to foster greater education and advocacy for public health inequities related to mental health; to examine current public health solutions aimed at improving mental health inequities in Michigan, and to inspire novel solutions among participants.
