This is a series of career panels aimed at helping you explore different career paths in the biomedical/medical field and life sciences. You will have a chance to hear from professionals in a variety of roles and sectors, helping you to visualize potential career trajectories. Each panel will have at least 3 panelists working at different companies/organizations at a different stage in their career (early-, mid-, late-).

Aims and Objectives:

  1. To expose trainees to various career options in the biomedical/medical field and life sciences.
  2. To help trainees understand the pathways to these careers.
  3. To enable trainees to make more informed career decisions.

Today's session will focus on learning more best practices, tools and resources to make your career exploration easier and fun! This workshop aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to thoroughly explore various career pathways for patent law, intellectual property, and regulatory affairs, and make informed decisions, have a clear understanding of how to align your career choices with your personal and professional goals, and ensure you can have a fulfilling and successful career journey.

Workshop Goals:

  1. Identify and understand various career paths within these fields, including the skills, education, and experience required for each role.
  2. Assess current skills and interests, using myIDP, comparing with recent job posts requirements and identify areas for improvement or further training.
  3. Learn the importance of professional networking, providing strategies and platforms for connecting with industry professionals and peers in these fields.
  4. Create a personalized action plan to set clear, achievable goals for career exploration and job search efforts in patent law, intellectual property, and regulatory affairs.
