Honors Pre-Health Workshop: Writing a Personal Statement

Are you ready to write your personal statement for medical school? Would you like support on getting started? 

Whether you already have written a draft of your statement or are just now beginning to think about applying to a medical school or another health care professional program later this year, this workshop offers tips on writing a personal statement to help you get started. 


Join me for an information session to learn about:

  • Identifying the main theme of your statement
  • Conveying your “why”
  • Being authentic
  • Staying true to you
  • Writing a statement to emphasize skills and competencies
  • Appreciating the value of writing and rewriting your statement

The same session will be repeated on the following dates in January 2024:

  • Thursday, January 25 (4-5:30 pm)
  • Monday, January 29 (4-5:30 pm)

Sessions are held in the Honors Lounge, 1306 Mason Hall and are led by Julie Nelson, Pre-Health Advisor. For LSA Honors Program students only.
