Grant proposals have many features in common with academic journal articles, but the distinctions need to be prioritized in your proposal writing style to meet the reviewer's expectations. In this session, trainees will be guided through an interactive editing system to learn how to make their drafts clear, concise, and more appealing to the funding agency.
Whether you are in the midst of grant writing, just getting started, or still brainstorming, trainees at all stages of the process are welcome.
This session is part of a 3-part series on grant writing. You are welcome to attend one session or all three; whatever works best with your schedule and grant writing interests.
About Our Presenter
Dr. Lisa R. Nielsen is the Postdoc Office Director and a grant writer at Purdue University where she uses the combination of her two positions to share her strategies for writing effective grants with postdocs. Before coming to Purdue, Lisa worked in sales and technical support for a laboratory equipment manufacturer, where she learned how to apply persuasion to research proposals. Although she was originally a materials scientist, Lisa now works with postdocs from all over the Purdue campus, including many biomedical and life sciences researchers. Her interests are in training postdocs in grant writing with both hands-on practice and knowledge of strategies for guided writing.
