Meet your panelists:
Alexis Kenworthy
Alexis is from Los Angeles, California, and moved to Nashville, Tennessee for her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University. She majored in Communication Studies and Corporate Strategy before deciding to join the Peace Corps upon graduating. Alexis served in a small town in the south of Morocco as a Youth Development Specialist beginning in 2018, and was evacuated in March of 2020 due to the pandemic. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the Ross School of Business and her MPP at the Ford School of Public Policy with the desire to work in international development after graduation.
Christopher Owen
Chris is passionate about people strategy, positive organizational scholarship, and leveraging business as a force for driving social impact. He joined the University of Michigan community as an MBA/MS dual-degree student after serving for three years in Ecuador with the U.S. Peace Corps as a business development consultant who equipped social impact start-ups with strategies for sustainable growth. Prior to his service with the Peace Corps, he co-founded Legacy College Funding, a financial consulting firm that prepares families for the costs of sending their children to college, and Hosea’s Heart, a non-profit in Swaziland, Africa, which shelters and empowers at-risk girls. Currently, Chris works as a people strategy consultant at Microsoft and, in his free time, enjoys canoeing, cycle touring, and creating doodle art.
Linda Stingl
Linda served in Peace Corps Kenya in 1982-1983 at Harambee Girls’ Schools in two villages. Currently, Linda is Assistant Development Director for Detroit Rescue Mission. Detroit Rescue Mission has served homeless and addicted individuals and their families in Detroit since 1909. Currently we have 20+ programs, $15 million budget and 250 employees. Previously, Linda worked researching funders and writing grant proposals as an independent contractor for DRM and other non-profits in Detroit, DC, Haiti, and Kenya. Linda earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Following Peace Corps, she worked to organize employers in Milwaukee, then Detroit, to develop strategies to remain viable and improve their communities for businesses and residents. Linda served on the Board of National Peace Corps Association.
