Clifford Benjamin Brown, also known as Brownie, was the most influential American jazz trumpeter of his generation. The lyrical aspects of his music influenced many trumpeters, including Lee Morgan and Booker Little, and his technical brilliance especially influenced trumpeters such as Donald Byrd and Freddie Hubbard.
Join me as we learn about the personal and professional life of Brownie, as told by professors from the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. We will meet at the Northwood V Parking Lot 55 bus stop and travel to the Walgreen Drama Center together. This event is free and children are welcome.
