Angelo Pitillo, Director, English Language Institute

Email is the primary way that people in the U.S. connect in academic and professional settings, so the ability to write effective e-mail messages is an essential skill. Many people are using AI tools to write their emails these days, but these can be bland and generic, or too wordy and formal. In this popular workshop led by the Director of U-M's English Language Institute, you will discover the 'unwritten rules' for writing clear, polite, and effective emails. You will learn how to use your own voice to make a positive first impression and analyze examples of common emails such as self-introductions, requests for an interview, or thank you notes. Lunch (pizza) will be provided!
