This event is designed to give residents a chance to take a break from their busy schedules and experience a relaxing and positive moment in the community. The goal of the program is to support student well-being, reduce stress, and create a welcoming environment where residents can connect with each other while interacting with Nico, the DPSS therapy dog.

The event will take place in the Markley lobby/front entrance area so residents can easily stop by as they walk through the building. At the start of the event, I will welcome residents, briefly explain Nico’s role as a therapy dog with DPSS, and share how therapy dogs can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Residents will then have the opportunity to interact with Nico by petting him, spending time with him, and taking photos if they would like.

Throughout the event, I hope residents feel comfortable dropping in, taking a short break from studying or other responsibilities, and enjoying a positive and calming experience. I also hope the event encourages casual conversation among residents and helps strengthen the sense of community within the hall. By the end of the program, the goal is for residents to leave feeling more relaxed, supported, and connected to their community.
