UMSI Organizational Culture & Community Staff: Garret Potter, M.A., Julia Dang, M.A., & Katherine Parker-Hay, PhD (

Do you self-identify as an Information Professional? (A UX designer? Data Analyst? Another identity within Information Science?) If not, what might you need to feel you are an information professional? What experiences, skills, or actions feel most important?

Explore your professional identity and dive into these critical questions with graduating fifth-year dual-degree master’s student Garret Potter and UMSI’s Organizational Culture and Community team.

This workshop, ”Realizing Your Professional Identity” provides opportunities to explore and visually plot your professional (work and/or info science experience) identity journey from the earliest memories until the present. Then, we will each build on and extend our journey line to propose tangible next steps for skill-building and identity-strengthening experiences.

This workshop includes identity exploration, self reflection, and supported goal setting. Everyone who registers will receive information to guide them in a successful workshop. Lunch provided for those who register to attend."
