Robotics Pathways and Careers Speakers Series - Winter 26

The Robotics Pathways and Careers Speaker Series (RPCSS) invites professionals working in robotics to come talk with current undergraduates about their career path, how a background in robotics has impacted their professional growth, and what they hope to see in students looking to enter the profession.


The 90-minute format of the event will consist of a 30-minute presentation from the invited speaker and up to 40 minutes of moderated Q&A and discussion. Students will be able to participate in person or remotely.

Mark Williams - Managing Principal/Diagnostics

Abstract

Autonomous reality capture is transforming how we understand, manage, and operate the built world. This presentation explores the use of autonomous robotics and sensing platforms to continuously capture site conditions and generate high-fidelity digital twins of buildings and infrastructure. These digital representations enable data-driven decision-making, lifecycle asset management, and long-term operational value. The talk will also outline potential research and project themes for the inaugural Walter P Moore Robotics Fellowship, highlighting opportunities at the intersection of robotics, data, and the built environment.


Bio

As Managing Director and Director of Digital Transformation in the Diagnostics Group at Walter P Moore, Mark brings an inclusive and collaborative approach to evaluating, repairing, and upgrading the built environment. His focus on critical infrastructure assets exposed to aggressive environments has led to award-winning projects for the rehabilitation of bridges, hyperbolic cooling towers, dams, stadiums, parking structures, and other large-scale structures.
