Honors in the Arts

Have an interest in the arts? Interesting in attending events with UMS? Join your Honors peers to attend a performance and discuss your reactions, opinions and thought-provoking moments. Honors students at all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Students are able to earn one Sophomore Engagement Point by:

  • Attending any two different performances offered through this series.
  • Provide proof of attendance (a ticket stub or a screenshot of your receipt)
  • Write a short reflection about your overall experience and submit it to Lisa Broome (lbroome@umich.edu)

The reflection should be 250-500 words and should address both performances' impact on you in some way. A summary shouldn't be the dominant feature, we are more interested in your experiences and what you think about the performances. You could review them, discuss their effect on you or their value to you, indicate whether they inspired extended conversation about or engagement with the subject matter, compare/contrast your audience-based experience with other modes of engaging with the subjects presented, etc.

The reflection will be due by Wednesday, February 12 at 4pm. Lisa will be advertising a one-hour discussion-over-snacks (4pm, Wed., Feb 12) meeting to all participants, but the engagement point is tied to attending two performances and submitting the reflection.
