​The International Center is offering several in-person social events in August, which will be led by Summer Orientation Peer Advisors. Events include informal walking tours of Central Campus and North Campus, hiking in the Arb, a visit to Kerrytown and the Farmer’s Market, and more!

Location: Meet outside the Student Activities Building on Jefferson Street

Central Campus was the original location of U-M when it moved to Ann Arbor in 1837. Central Campus houses many schools, prominent libraries, the Diag, and more. Our peer advisors will lead visits to some of the key buildings and landmarks to help you familiarize with Central Campus. You are not required to stay for the entire duration of the event so feel free to exit the tour at any time.

Nichols Arboretum
International Student Orientation Peer Advisors

Location: Meet outside the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor (1600 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI 48104)

Nichols Arboretum (123 acres, 49.7 hectares), locally known as the Arb, is an arboretum operated by the University of Michigan. Join us for a peer advisor-led tour at the Arb! We will take a stroll through the Arb alongside the Huron river. Enjoy the summertime in this iconic place in Ann Arbor. You are not required to stay for the entire duration of the event so feel free to exit the tour at any time. Please note that the hiking in the Arb will involve walking on dirt pathways and potentially walking up hills, so please wear comfortable shoes. You may also want to bring a bottle of water and light snacks.

The 800 acres of rolling hills and mature trees, which we know as North Campus today, were cleared by pioneers in 1860 and farmed until U-M bought North Campus in 1952. Our peer advisors will lead visits to some of the key buildings and landmarks to help you familiarize with North Campus. You are not required to stay for the entire duration of the event so feel free to exit the tour at any time.

Join International Center Orientation Peer Advisors for a short walk to Liberty Plaza where we will enjoy a free concert taking place as part of Ann Arbor's annual "Sonic Lunch Concert Series." The concert on August 20 will feature Ax & the Hatchetmen with opener Ohly. You can learn more about the artists here.

Registration is required for the International Center event; however, all members of the U-M and Ann Arbor community are welcome to attend the concert for free!

Kerrytown District
International Student Orientation Peer Advisors

Location: Meet outside the Student Activities Building on Jefferson Street and the group will walk to Kerrytown together

Join us for a peer advisor-led tour of the Kerrytown district, a very interesting and historic part of Ann Arbor. One highlight of this neighborhood is the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, an open-air marketplace which features locally grown food, plants, prepared food items, and crafts, all sold by the people who grow them or make them. The Kerrytown district also includes the nationally-known Zingerman's Delicatessen, and the People’s Food Coop, a community-owned natural foods grocery store, as well as many other interesting shops and buildings. You are not required to stay for the entire duration of the event so feel free to exit the tour at any time.
