Come to the Markley Community Learning Center for a cookie decorating session with friends! We’ll have sugar cookies, food dye, and buttercream frosting to test your food art skills! This event will be very relaxed, and residents can come to just destress. Everyone is welcome to come and decorate cookies with us!

Looking to spice up your LinkedIn profile? On Wednesday October 7th at 6:00pm, head over to the Angela Davis Multicultural Lounge to get your headshot taken by RA Ava! There is no dress code; come in whatever you're comfortable in whether that is business formal or your everyday clothing! Having a nice headshot is a great opportunity to make a good first impression to employers and other networking connections. There will also be refreshments! Hope to see you there!

Are you passionate about Celtic traditions? Do you love getting to know other residents? If so, this is the event FOR YOU! Join RAs Cassandra and Madison as well as Markley's DPE team to go on a night of adventure. We will hear more about Celtic traditions and explore the rich diversity of past traditions. Plus, we will have free food and face paint. Be there or be square!

Join us in celebrating Latine Heritage Month with an evening filled with culture, creativity, and fun! Get creative by making your own piñata, with all the supplies and candy provided. If arts and crafts aren’t your thing, enjoy some food and challenge your friends to a game of traditional dominoes. Whether you’re looking to learn more about Latine culture, meet new people, or just have a fun night, everyone is welcome!

The event will be in South Lounge. There will be a table with my computer open with a short airplane making tutorial if the one I provide isn't enough. I will be working with residents for the first 30 minutes on building 2-3 planes. I will ask them to put their names on each one. I will first have them get in a circle after 30 minutes and throw the paper airplanes in the air. They will then catch one and try to find the person whose name corresponds with the one written, and tell each other an interesting fact. I will then have the contest to see whose flies the furthest. 

Waiting for gradeCome join the Markley RAs at 5 PM on Monday, October 12th in the Community Learning Center for a fun evening of pumpkin painting and sweet treats! The event will last until 6 PM while supplies last.

At the “Spooky Slime & Snacks” event, residents will have the opportunity to have tasty snacks and connect with others by making themed slime. The activity will provide an outlet for residents to destress by making and playing with slime. With Halloween right around the corner, residents can participate in this nostalgic activity with a fun spooky twist. After this event, residents will leave with new friendships, a sense of belonging, and memories of a fun seasonal event hosted by their RAs.

A quiet study session where residents are able to wind down and have a space where they can lock in on any tasks they want to accomplish during the hours. Residents will have the choice to sit by themselves or with a small group to work on assignments and/or other responsibilities. There are also comfortable seating options available. There will be no form of loud disturbance permitted within the space.

Do you think you’re smarter than your RA? Come prove it at Are You Smarter Than Your RA! Residents will compete in fun rounds like Guess the Song, Family Feud, UMich and Markley trivia, and random knowledge questions. Residents can play individually or with a team, enjoy food, earn points, and compete for prizes. The event will provide a fun break from academics while encouraging social interaction, teamwork, and friendly competition.

Residents will be invited to a creative pennant-making party where they can design and decorate their own personalized pennants. A variety of craft supplies will be provided, allowing residents to express their personalities, interests, favorite things, or personal goals through their designs. The event will provide a relaxed and welcoming environment for residents to hang out, meet one another, listen to music, and enjoy a creative activity together. The goal is to create a low-pressure opportunity for residents to connect, unwind, and build community.

Join us for a brisk walk in the Arb to celebrate homecoming. Bring yourself and a friend to enjoy  the beautiful fall weather and destress during exam season. We will meet in front of the Markley Community Center on the 4th floor before heading out.

You may have heard about U-M's Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS), but do you know all the ways they are here to support your safety and success at Michigan? Stop by the Markley Concourse (4th floor) to learn more about the work that DPSS does, the resources you have available to you, and to pick up a free donut!

Residents who plan to attend will meet at the front entrance of Markley at 5 PM. I will wait for the residents who indicated they are attending so that we can all leave and walk to the Hadley Recreation Center together. Once we arrive, we will head to the indoor turf field and get ready to play soccer.

Head over to South Lounge to make slime! All supplies will be provided, and it will be a great opportunity to meet others, craft together, and unwind!

Residents will be able to come and bring their friends for a fun game night. We will play werewolf and avalon (games similar to mafia). This will be a fun event where people can get to know one another through collaboration! The goal of the event is for residents to de-stress and make new friends!
