Preparing to apply to the University of Michigan Master of Science in Information (MSI) program? This application-focused session will guide you through the application process and help you understand what is required to submit a complete application.

We’ll review application requirements, required materials, important deadlines, and other key steps in the process. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from a member of the UMSI admissions team.

This session is designed for prospective students who are preparing to apply or want a closer look at the application process. For a broader introduction to the field of information, the MSI program, student experience, and career pathways, prospective students are encouraged to attend an Explore the MSI session.

This session offers a broad introduction to the University of Michigan Master of Health Informatics (MHI) program. We’ll explore what a health informatics degree is, who comes to the program, the MHI curriculum and student experience, and the career pathways pursued by alumni. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and consider whether the MHI aligns with your interests and goals.

This session is designed as a general program overview rather than an application workshop. For more in-depth guidance on the application process, prospective students are encouraged to attend an Apply to MHI session.

Are you a current University of Michigan undergraduate student interested in earning a master’s degree from the U-M School of Information on an accelerated timeline?

The U-M Accelerated Master’s Degree Program (UM-AMDP) offers eligible U-M students a reduced-credit pathway to a UMSI master’s degree. Rather than completing the standard 48 credits, UM-AMDP students complete 39 credits, which may allow them to graduate in as little as 1.5 years—or three semesters.

Join one of our virtual UM-AMDP Information Sessions to learn how you can continue your education at Michigan and deepen your expertise in the information field.

Each session includes:


An introduction to the UM-AMDP and an overview of the curriculum
Information about eligibility, application requirements, and deadlines
Details about the reduced-credit pathway and expected timeline

Unlike our Explore and Apply sessions, this event does not include a formal presentation. Instead, the time is dedicated to answering your questions about program options, curriculum, the student experience, application requirements and materials, deadlines, or anything else related to UMSI.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore UMSI, preparing your application, or deciding on your next steps, you’re welcome to join at any point during the session and ask questions.
