This event hosted by the Bursley DPEs (Diversity Peer Educators) Ati and Aminata and in collaboration with RA Jenin and Daniel will serve as an opportunity engage with each other as well as the DPEs to feel more welcome and included in the community. Join us for a fall semester reflection session! Collaborate with fellow residents to set midterm goals, create a vision board, and uplift each other as we navigate college life.
We will set up multiple card games in the lounge and move from table to table, sparking conversations as we go along. We will also set up team card games to foster teamwork and friend-making. We want the residents to be actively engaged in the event.
I plan to advertise heavily for my residents to attend the LGBTQ+ resource fair event by posting flyers around the hall and sending messages to my residents. I will give residents the option to meet me at the fair, or travel by bus together by meeting at the bus stop @3pm. Since this is a resource fair, I would also encourage students to also just go on their own time if they feel uncomfortable traveling in a group, and let me know if they attended / if they found it useful.
We will create fun trivia questions regarding the policies of the CLAM and have students get into groups and give their best answers. It will be a good opportunity to clear up any confusion students might have regarding CLAM policies. We will also have food for them to enjoy while they are playing. We want students to feel very comfortable with the Community Living requirements so that they have knowledge of what to do if something is a CLAM violation.

Residents are to meet RAs involved in the Bursley Lobby at any point between 8:00pm and 10:00pm. This event is meant to be done in a stop-by. Residents will approach the RA table, take a brief (3-7 question) refresher quiz on various CLAM policies. RAs will educate residents following any incorrect answers. All participating residents are welcome to a cookie. Upon quiz-completion and cookie-reception, residents are free to go about their business, but are more than welcome to mingle.
For the "Capture the Flag in the Grove" event, I envision creating a thrilling, Halloween-themed experience that combines fun with teamwork and strategy. Here’s the plan for how it would unfold from start to finish:Arrival: The event begins with participants arriving in the lobby by 9pm. Team Assignment: Colors are distributed so that the teams are roughly equal in size. Friends are encouraged to stay together. Rules Overview: Once teams are set, everyone will gather for a brief but clear explanation of the rules of Capture the Flag, along with a safety briefing. Walk to grove: As a group Play the game: Most likely at least 3 rounds (in keeping with previous years) End game: Thank folks for coming out.

I plan the event to be quite loose start to finish, with residents coming as going as they please. I plan to reserve a long table on the east side of the Bursley dining hall.
Meet RA Paulina in the Bursley lobby at 2pm, and then take the bus down to Hill Auditorium around 2:30. The concert is free at Hill Auditorium; students can then choose to either ride the bus back to Bursley or stay on central campus after the concert.
Join RA Dorian on World Kindness Day to write a few nice words of gratitude to the Douglas 6th floor facilities personnel. During this time, RA Dorian will show a slideshow on trash/recycling and bathroom etiquette to maintain floor etiquette with the goal in mind of being kind to one another within the community and being mindful of the community appearance and cleanliness.
RA Jenin is hosting a program in the MLK Lounge that features a presentation from Org that will educate residents about the history and share about the culture of Palestine.

A team of RAs will host the event in a fairly high-stress period so residents can de-stress in a way that celebrates Asian culture. We will provide bubble tea and origami, as well as information that describes their cultural ties and origins. We will also encourage participants to collaborate with origami and talk to one another.
RA Parker will be in the creative suite to greet residents and manage the distribution of cookies. There be signs made for different subjects so residents can find other people studying the same thing. I.e, a physics sign for people studying for the physics midterm. I will try to direct people to the stations where they can get the most relevant help. I will try to give advice if people ask for help but my ability to do so is limited by the stuff I actually know. If folks have greater experitece we hope your share it with the group. I want residents to have a chance to study with their peers in a relaxed environment.
RA Matt is hosting a friendly billiards tournament in the East Lounge! Games of straight pool will be available, though 9-ball variations are also available if participants would like. All residents are welcome to attend regardless of experience level, and cue sticks will be provided!
RA April Feng is hosting an interactive study session in the East Lounge! There will be different study areas: a silent table, a collaborative working table, and a study break table. There will also be cards and games provided as a fun break between studying.
Presentation Night is a night where residents can make a google slides presentation on something they like/want to talk about, kind of like the "Roman Empire" talks at the start of our MNMs. I'll make a google form for people to sign up to present ahead of time. Then, we meet in the Creative Suite and take turns presenting. LAE has done this in the past, and presentations included "Ranking Types of Pizza", "The Science of Running Through Walls", and "Bionicles Lore Summarized". I expect similar presentations this time around.
Come have FloorsGiving dinner with RAs Evan, Samuel, and Biplav, before the Thanksgiving Recess! We will be sitting at the long table in the East Dining Room of Bursley Dining Hall. If it is closed, we will be sitting at the long tables in the West Dining Room. Everyone is welcome! Bring a friend and come make some new ones!
Residents will come and get refreshments while taking a provided quiz on how they naturally deal with conflict. They will then take the answers to that quiz and map out a plan for how to deal with any potential family conflicts during Thanksgiving. They will make a hand turkey, and each feather will have a plan of action for a potential conflict that they think will be brought up during family events.
RA Evelyn is hosting this event as a starting point to have a discussion on backpacking! FLOCK (flockworksdance.com), a co-choreography German/American dance company known for their non-gendered partnering and unique approach to physicality and storytelling, will join faculty members Tzveta Kassabova (theatre & drama), Biza Sompa (dance) and Robin Wilson (dance), in her final Power Center performance before her retirement.
