Interested in attending A2 Pride, but don't want to go alone? Join Northwood RAs and fellow Northwood residents in Downtown Ann Arbor for this year's Ann Arbor Pride! 

Meet at the Arb is a social event that will allow Northwood 1 & 2 residence the opportunity to get to know their neighbors while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Nichols Arboretum

Come with us to explore the Farmers Market and support our local farmers. This is a great opportunity to do some grocery shopping, connect with community, and see some more common Ann Arbor activities. 

Celebrate back to school and kick off the new year by bringing any gently used and unwanted school supplies and swapping with others in the neighborhood! Some examples include: folders, pencils, crayons, workbooks, notebooks, etc. 

New and returning Northwood residents, stop by the Northwood Community Center to join your neighbors for ice cream and socializing! 

Kick off the first day of classes with breakfast at the bus stop! We will have donuts, muffins, fruits and coffee to-go! See you there!

New international families! join the International Center and Northwood ResStaff for a welcome meal at the Northwood Community Center (1000 McIntyre) on Saturday September 23rd from 3:00PM - 5:00PM! Meet new community members and staff while also learning about resources on campus and the community! Registration is required, and food will be provided!

Come unwind, relax, and destress at Community Yoga at the Ann Arbor School of Yoga! 

This will be a gathering for postdoctoral trainees in the community in conjunction with the The University of Michigan PostDoctoral Association in order to provide their families with resources and support. 

The event will allow residents to gather and accomplish academic goals such as such studying and homework in a community setting with food!

Before you head out to class or work, start your morning in community with your RAs and fellow residents, grabbing some coffee, hot chocolate, and a few breakfast items to go.

Tired of being at home? Stop by the Community Center for some playtime. We'll have building blocks for young children that they can also take home, coloring pages, and catchy kid songs for dancing. Not a child? Still want some time to destress? We'll have ice cream, ping pong, cornhole, coloring, video games at the main desk and supplies to make beautiful fall home decor for adults! We'll have something for everyone! 

"U-M Planetarium and Dome Theater | Sky Tonight Live Show! 

Northwood residents are invited to join a private Sky Tonight Show at the U-M Planetarium, on Sunday, October 15th at 10:00 AM. 

Sky Tonight is a live presentation that includes how to find the cardinal directions on your own with the North Star, current and upcoming constellations, visible planets, a few deep sky objects depending on the season, and other interesting astronomical visualizations. If you want to be able to look up from your own backyard and know what to look for, this is the show for you. 

U-M Housing is sponsoring this event for up to 15 residents. Families are welcome to attend but must be reported in your registration for ticketing. Sign up today, and email ambnicol@umich.edu for more information.

For students who require transportation, meet resident advisors Amber and Taylor outside of the Northwood Community Center at 9:45 AM for a prompt departure to campus. Students commuting to campus on their own will meet resident advisors at the Planetarium and Dome Theater which is located in the Biological Sciences Building, Museum of Natural History. Northwood residents are welcome to join sessions during October and November to learn more about the farm, volunteer by harvesting seasonal goodies, and explore other exciting opportunities for engagement. Please meet us at the Northwood Community Center at 11 AM for an early lunch (pizza!), prior to departure. After lunch, we will arrange a vanpool to commute from the community center to the farm. Families and children of residents are invited to attend (please note in your registration if additional attendees will join you).

When volunteering, it is recommended that participants wear pants long-sleeve clothing, and closed-toed shoes."

Do you enjoy watching things burn up in flames? You're not the only one. Join us as we make a quick carpool to Matthaei Botanical Gardens to witness a prescribed burn. These burns are an important tool help to promote native plants and reduce the abundance of invasive and woody plants.

Come celebrate Diwali! Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It symbolizes the spiritual ""victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance"". It is a time for cleaning and decorating homes, lighting lamps and candles, exchanging gifts, and strengthening family bonds. Diwali represents the celebration of wealth, prosperity, and the spreading of joy and knowledge. It is a significant cultural and social festival that promotes unity and diversity.

Join us as we learn about Diwali, prepare decorations for our homes, enjoy Indian foods, listen and dance to Indian music, and share the aspects of our lives for which we feel thankful. Be sure to wear some bright colors!

We’ll have items arranged by general age range and people can search for what they need while also clearing out excess items! Snacks will be provided.

A time for residents to gather together in a comfortable place to study and be in community with each other.

Study sessions can be lonely and isolating, especially during the winter months, so we are hoping to provide some late night snacks and good company to get students through a time when first exams/quizzes are scheduled and first assignments are due. 

All students and postdoc trainees are invited to celebrate Lunar New Year. We'll have a mahjong, calligraphy arts & crafts, and traditional Lunar New Year foods.

This event will feature the “Astronomy Night” event featuring the Seeing in Depth talk on Astronomy. After the talk, participants will be able to tour the center, and star gaze, through the center’s telescope. Before departure, meet RA staff at the Northwood Community Center at 7:00 PM for pizza before departure to the observatory, on campus. Carpool will be available for some attendees.
