The objective of this event is to celebrate women’s empowerment in honor of Women’s History Month. Barbie especially the recent movie has come to be known as a great women’s empowerment movie. Since it is National Barbie Day, we will do it on this day to celebrate both the holiday and women’s empowerment. We also hope to foster a good time and release after midterms by providing the option for this movie and food for residents.

"Strings & Beats: Friendship Bracelet Night"" is a community-building event designed to provide students with a much-needed break from the stress of midterms. The primary goal of ""Strings & Beats"" is to foster a sense of community within the dorm. By engaging in a fun and collaborative activity like bracelet making, students have the opportunity to bond with one another and strengthen their connections. In addition to community building, ""Strings & Beats"" aims to provide students with a space to relax and de-stress. As midterms loom, it's essential for students to take a break and engage in activities that promote relaxation and well-being. The event will kick off with a brief welcome and introduction, setting the tone for the evening. Participants will then have the opportunity to dive into bracelet making, with a variety of colorful embroidery floss available for their creations. Throughout the evening, a curated playlist of music will provide a backdrop for the creative process. Lastly, the event will conclude by encouraging students to exchange contact information with one another.

The workshop, led by Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP)-certified

instructors, aims to teach participants situational awareness and prevention skills to

leave them better equipped to deal with everything from harassment to potentially

violent people to sexual assault. Participants will take part in verbal exercises,

physical drills and discussion.

This workshop will help the WISE RP community in learning how to speak up for themselves when they are in uncomfortable situations especially as they're in a majority male-identifying STEM field. Additionally with the mission and community goal of helping the WISE RP community connect with resources and opportunities to support their personal pursuits.

The objective of this program is to connect residents with effective study resources that they can utilize after they leave Mojo’s study groups. This in particular pertains to WISE RP students as they get additional resources from the SLC like appointment-based tutoring that they may not have been aware of. This event comes in light of the fact that many of my residents have expressed concerns about potential difficulties in some of their classes but don’t know the SLC as a resource.

Organizing and staying organized throughout the semester is really overwhelming and not foolproof. As junior students, we’d like to share our templates and tips for staying on top of assignments and exams. We’d also like to share important apps, resources that the university provides, and host a workshop-type event where we can help residents implement these techniques. We’re hopeful that this event will target residents who have found the semester challenging so far and want to improve their performance and habits in school. We’re here to support and guide them.

One of the core things about being future leaders is recognizing all the people that pour into you, and set you up for success. One pivotal privilege that students living in resident halls experience is having a custodial staff that ensures our safety by implementing and maintaining cleaning measures around campus. This event will take place in the classroom where students will be able to display their artistic freedoms by creating a banner that is meant to uplift our custodial staff. Students will have the opportunity paint, draw, write, etc. messages or pictures that they feel convey a message of appreciation. There will be an presentation that will give students suggestions on things to write or draw. We will also have a table dedicated to making care packages for our staff. There will be a series of questions for residents to reflect on and to chat about what motivates them to pursue their major. The multicultural movie will be Crazy Rich Asians, a film that emphasizes the cultural and class differences between Chinese and Chinese Americans. The film and its commentary both deploy a multicultural redemption narrative that tells a story of reconciliation to racial injury. Although the film explicitly focuses on the cultural differences between Asian and Asian Americans, we believe that the scope of this film could be expanded to other immigrant groups and entails a story that is shared by many students who had or are currently struggling with exploring and recovering their cultural identity.

This program aims to give residents an opportunity to bond with other people within the dorm or with some of their friends in a team-like, collaborative space. The event will have activities comparable to the tv-show minute to win it where teams have 60 seconds to complete an activity with their team and the team that has the most or completes it first wins. Since we cannot have people win prizes we will be doing a raffle for blue bucks for the winning team of 5. The activity winners will get a ticket in the raffle and the more tickets they have the more opportunities they have in the raffle. The activities will include - Slide Cookie down the face, Mummy Wrapping, Cup Stacking, Good Sports (write the most Michigan Sports teams in 1 minute), nose dive (where residents have to collect cotton balls into a bowl with only their nose and a dap of petroleum jelly), penny stacking with one hand, toothpick words (residents have to make as many words as they can from toothpicks without bending them). The audience of the event is everyone who attends and it will be marketed to everyone. There will be about 6 teams tentatively. All the teams will participate in the same game at the same time. RA Makayla and Emma will moderate and monitor progress.

For my November event, I am proposing a thanksgiving day

themed game night as a way for residents to celebrate

Thanksgiving early with their friends, neighbors, and other

residential community members. The event will utilize many of

the board games currently occupying the community center and

will set up different stations per table for different board games.

My intention is to provide a space for residents to relieve stress

prior/after their midterms. I also acknowledge that many

residents may be going home for Thanksgiving and I want to

provide a space for those who are not returning home to have

an early gathering with their loved ones away from home. This

event will be facilitated by two different RAs to ensure that no

stations are overcrowded and that each game is executed in a

respectful, fun manner (friendly competitions only). Moreover, as

an early Thanksgiving day gift, I am planning to make goody

bags full of candies and chocolates with a little thankful note in

each bag. Residents who have already signed in and have

engaged with others in some capacity can treat themselves to a

bag of delicious thankfulness! I am anticipating 25 active

audiences and 10 members who won’t be able to stay full time

but still wanted to participate briefly.
