We will be meeting in front of the Community Center and walk together to the Arb. The RA’s will be bringing a soccer ball, volley ball, and frisbee for physical wellness activities; or if residents want to stay more observant of the surrounding environment, they can paint with painting supplies that we will be bringing with us, appreciating the beauty of nature in the Arb while getting to know other community members.

This workshop provides residents with practical guidance on creating and improving resumes tailored to STEM fields. The session will begin with a short overview of resume essentials, including formatting tips, common mistakes to avoid, and strategies for highlighting technical and transferable skills. Examples of strong STEM resumes will be shared to give residents a clear model of what employers and graduate programs are looking for. After the overview, residents will have dedicated time to work on their own resumes. They can either start building from scratch or polish an existing draft. Peer-to-peer feedback will be encouraged in small groups, allowing residents to learn from one another and strengthen their communication skills. The program will close with a short Q&A to address specific questions and provide resources for further resume development.

We will meet at 4pm in the Jo Lounge and walk to the UMMA. Once at the UMMA, we will have a guided tour of exhibits like Come Talk to Me (intersection of race and sexuality), Unsettling Histories (Impact of Racism on Achievement), A Gathering (art is a reflection of societal changes), and Curriculum / Collection(our impact on society, interdisciplinary work).

Residents will be invited to an evening of creativity and collaboration centered around their research passions. At the start of the event, materials such as paper, glue, markers, and recycled magazines will be provided, with a brief introduction on how the activity connects to responsible stewardship by reusing and sharing resources. Each student will create a one-page collage reflecting either their personal research interest or an issue they care deeply about, blending words, images, and drawings to capture their vision. By the end, residents will leave having contributed to something larger than themselves while also celebrating their own passions.

Join RA Aspen in the Jo Living Room before taking the bus to Mitchell field to play some sand volleyball before the weather turns cold!

During this event, residents will have a chance to make fun origami while talking to each other and listening to music.

Residents will be invited to paint their own plant pot and plant a succulent in it. This hands-on, creative activity provides stress relief, encourages mindfulness, and helps students express themselves artistically. Succulents are low-maintenance plants that promote sustainability and add a touch of greenery to living spaces, which can positively impact mental health. 

While watching the movie The Lorax, we will be upcycling clothes to prevent fast fashion waste. In this way, we will be learning more about environmentalism while also practicing it. 

We will host a football watch party for the Michigan v Nebraska away game. The game will start at 3:30 PM, prior to which we will get the catered food from the dining hall. Residents will converse among themselves during the game, and meet people from around the dorm.

Residents will be invited to a relaxed, creative evening where they will first reflect on their “STEM origin story” — how they became interested in STEM and what role their identities have played in shaping that journey. They will then transition into creating personalized STEM vision boards, using magazines, printouts, and craft materials to represent their goals, dreams, and identities within STEM. The program will close with an optional sharing circle, where residents can present aspects of their vision boards or origin stories, allowing peers to celebrate and connect over shared experiences.

Join RSC Maya for an event focused on making vision boards as a fun way to express yourself creatively and reflect on what we want to experience in the upcoming year. 

During this event, residents will have the opportunity to practice mindfulness in the midst of exam season, while making and enjoying a root beer (or other pop) float. In groups they will talk about how they are managing stress and spend time doing a goal setting activity with sticky notes individually, with their table, and as a full group. 

Residents will arrive and have the option to engage in activities. (bracelet making, photo booth, coloring pages, they'll have a piece of paper with a taylor song/album on it taped to their backs and have to figure out which one they are by asking yes/no questions, etc). Once the album drops, the group will have a listening party!

The goal of this event is to create a space for residence to enjoy each others company while discussing the importance of healthy eating. The event will utilize Michigan resources surrounding healthy eating to provide talking points for residents as they talk and eat in small groups.

Students will meet by dining hall stairs a 6:45pm and join RA David to head down to Michigan Theater promptly after (should be no more than a 15 minute walk). The orchestra starts at 7:00 and has free admission.

At the start of the event, there will be a brief presentation about Diwali. After that, residents will be able to relax and paint diyas while listening to music. Food will be provided. 

Join RSC Maya for a crafts night. We will have clay available for people to make little fall inspired crafts!

This workshop invites WISE RP residents to explore how professional tools like LinkedIn can serve as a platform for building and expressing their STEM identity. Residents will learn how to create or enhance their profiles by highlighting experiences, skills, and projects that reflect their passions and aspirations in science and engineering. Beyond technical tips, the session will emphasize how LinkedIn can be used to share what matters to you, connect with a supportive network, and showcase your unique perspective in STEM. By the end of the program, participants will not only leave with stronger profiles but also with a clearer sense of how to present themselves as emerging professionals and active members of the STEM community.

Friendly family feud competition with fun questions around safety. DPSS will be there to introduce themselves and answer questions.

Pizza, Puzzles, and People Who Lead is an interactive, team-based leadership workshop where participants explore their personal leadership styles while enjoying pizza and working together on a creative puzzle challenge. After watching a series of short videos on leadership and team dynamics, participants reflect on their individual strengths and write them on uniquely shaped puzzle pieces. As a group, they must then collaborate to fit all pieces together with minimal gaps and an intentional outer shape, symbolizing how different leadership styles can come together to form a cohesive and inclusive team culture. This engaging experience promotes self-awareness, critical thinking, and practical teamwork in a fun and meaningful way.

Join RA Emma for an opportunity to brainstorm those that we are very thankful for, and reflect on what roles that they fulfill in our lives. Then, you will make physical cards that express that gratitude. We will mail the letters and reflect on how expressing our gratitude feels. 

We’ll teach 2–3 popular, beginner-friendly line dances—such as the "Tamia Hustle”, “Wobble”,and “Cupid Shuffle" . We'll break down each dance step-by-step and practice it with the group.  After each tutorial, we’ll do a full run-through with music so everyone gets the chance to dance together. We’ll also play a short playlist of other fun line dance songs in between tutorials for free dancing, socializing, or relaxing.

The Hot Cocoa 'N Chill event will give residents a chance to unwind, connect, and destress and recharge before a particularly stressful time in the semester (finals week). The Mosher Living room will be transformed into a cozy space with a self-serve cocoa bar and snack table, chill music, and several tables set up for games like Connect Four, Cards, and Uno, etc. The event will begin with a short welcome and overview, followed by open time for residents to play games, chat, and enjoy their cocoa. The focus will be on creating a laid-back environment where residents feel comfortable joining in at their own pace. 

Join RAs Vibha and Tisha for a ginger break cookie decorating event focused on wise rp's cultivating critical leadership tenet. It will highlight that leadership involves organizing, supporting, and innovating.

This workshop will introduce residents to Zotero, a free and intuitive reference management software that simplifies how students collect, organize, and cite their sources. The session will take place in Jordan Lounge on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5:00–6:00 PM. The event will begin with a short introduction and demonstration of Zotero’s features, followed by a hands-on segment where residents can install the software, create a personal library, and practice saving and citing sources from the web. RA David will provide a step-by-step walkthrough using a sample research topic, allowing residents to experiment at their own pace while asking questions.

Join RAs Sivani and Tisha, as well as MoJo's DPE for an event about culture and food! There will be dish descriptions, highlighting the cultural significance of each of the dishes. During the event there will be a trivia session about different cultural foods.

The Wellness Monday December Ping Pong Tournament will be a low-intensity, friendly, active community event to promote physical wellness and social connection between residents. Residents will form teams the day of and will be organized into single-elimination or round-robin brackets depending on what is preferred by those who attend.

Join us for a welcome back dinner that includes the following aspects: Initially, we will do a quick icebreaker. Then, we will go around within tables and discuss what we are most excited about and nervous about going into the new year. Additionally, we will talk about what a strength from last semester is that we want to continue. Lastly, we will have a chill dinner where everyone socializes and relaxes!

 The goal of this event is for the residents to explore the Detroit Observatory! We will leave meet at the Blue Market at 7:50 and leave at 7:57 to leave room for people who are running late and then walk over to the Detroit Observatory which is right down the street past Alice Lloyd Dorm. This is a free event, which provides tours upon request and if weather permits, we can look out the telescope! This is a great opportunity for residents to explore the free opportunities the University has to enjoy!

This event will begin with a quick demo of how to use google calendar, including how to make different calendars, color code, turn on notifications, and view other peoples' availability. Following this, residents will break into individual/group work time, where they will also enjoy a serving of the charcuterie. They will be encouraged to add their class schedule, club commitments, any recruiting events, and deadlines.

RA Ayesha will give a short bullet-point presentation/hit high yield points about how to optimize your resume/linkedin. Residents can come in at any point during the event and can sit and casually do work/ask questions/get feedback. RA Ayesha will also encourage peer reviewing.

Come write a thank you message to our custodial staff to show your appreciation for all the hard work they do in our community!

The goal of the program is to share with students tips on how to present topics of interest with a particular focus on how to present research and other academic work. There will be samples of how to present their work both via a poster and with a presentation. There will also be some "Bad" examples, such as what should be avoided (poor color choice, distracting fonts, incorrect text sizing etc.) 

Residents will join RA David to make friendship bracelets designed to communicate a message to someone important in their life, such as a friend, research mentor, or staff member. Each participant will choose colors, patterns, and designs to represent their intended message. Supplies will be provided, and no prior experience is needed.

Join RA Ayesha for a warm and welcoming valentines event where residents can enjoy some treats, self-care, and a fun classic film!

Introduce common coding questions from popular questions banks like Leetcode. Solve a few problems collectively and then assign questions to audience. Give people a chance to practise what they learned before coming together as a group to discuss.

The event will be focused on making  braclets and will have some romanian music and trivia on a slideshow. The purpose of the event isn't to bombard the residents with a lot of information but to rather allow them the time to make a braclet and learn a bit more about the Romanian holiday and culture.

Join us for an evening of community, conversation, and collegiate athletics! We will meet in the Jo Lounge at 4:15pm PM and then head to the Michigan softball game!

Before the game begins, we’ll spend time reflecting on sports, wellness, and personal growth.

This event invites residents to attend the Voice & Opera Studio Recital together as a community outing. The recital features students from the university’s Department of Voice & Opera performing a variety of classical and vocal pieces. The event is free of cost and provides residents with an opportunity to experience live music, explore campus arts, and spend time with fellow residents in a relaxed cultural setting.

The purpose of this event is to allow residents to express themselves and have fun decorating some faux wooden eggs with paint, markers or crayons. Student's can take the eggs home if they celebrate Easter or simply enjoy them during the spring!

Join us for a celebration honoring the United Farm Workers movement and recognizing those who advocate for migrant farm workers and labor rights! Food, sweets, and crafts will be provided!

The purpose of this event is for residents to have a nice and quiet spot to study and work with their peers. For residents to have access to bits of smart study foods and snacks while they prepare for their exams. 

The event will be a movie night featuring the Pixar film Soul. Before starting the movie, RA Vibha will briefly introduce it and mention some of its main themes, such as finding joy in everyday moments and thinking about what brings meaning and happiness to our lives. This will encourage residents to reflect on these ideas as they watch. During the movie, residents will be able to relax and enjoy the film together while enjoying popcorn. After the movie, RA Vibha will ask residents to talk to their tables about a few reflection questions, including what their spark is (or what they may want to explore at U-M that could lead to a spark), how they may have related this past year, and how they hope to grow in the next year.

The World Art Day Paint Night hosted by RA David is a creative community event where residents gather to celebrate art from around the world. Participants will have the opportunity to paint, socialize, and explore artistic expression inspired by different cultures and global artistic traditions. The event provides a relaxed environment where attendees can learn about art as a universal form of communication and connect with others through creativity. By engaging in painting and sharing ideas, participants celebrate cultural diversity while expressing their own artistic perspectives.

This is the perfect chance to take a break from finals stress, hang out with your neighbors, and celebrate an amazing year together. 

“Açaí Your Future” is an interactive program that encourages residents to reflect on their journeys in STEM while thinking intentionally about their future goals. Participants will enjoy a custom açaí bowl bar while engaging in guided conversations and activities designed to build confidence and community among women and gender-minoritized students in STEM.

The program will begin with a introduction about STEM self-efficacy and the importance of recognizing one’s own growth and potential within STEM fields. RAs Tisha and Vibha will walk through their own journeys and how they engaged with their past experiences to inform their future visions.
