OGPS Master's Career Pathways Series - Fall 2026

This workshop introduces students to the Individual Development Plan, or IDP, as a practical tool for career planning. Participants will reflect on their skills, interests, values, and priorities; identify areas for growth; and begin outlining goals for their time in the master’s program and beyond.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Identify skills, interests, values, and career priorities that can inform future decisions.
• Use an IDP framework to set short- and longer-term professional goals.
• Identify concrete actions, resources, and experiences that support those goals.
• Revisit and revise their IDP as their interests and circumstances change.

This workshop introduces students to career development resources, programs, and opportunities available across the university. Participants will learn where to find support for career exploration, skill development, networking, experiential learning, and job preparation.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Identify university offices, programs, and services that support master’s students.
• Determine which resources are most relevant to their current career goals.
• Locate opportunities to build professional skills and gain experience.
• Develop a plan for using university resources during their degree program.

This workshop helps students describe their graduate training in language that is clear, relevant, and accessible to different audiences. Participants will practice translating academic experiences into evidence of skills and accomplishments for resumes, cover letters, interviews, networking conversations, and professional profiles.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Identify transferable skills developed through coursework, research, projects, and other graduate experiences.
• Describe their training without relying on discipline-specific language or academic jargon.
• Tailor descriptions of their experience to different roles, sectors, and audiences.
• Develop concise examples that demonstrate skills, contributions, and results.
