Mario Kart Night is exactly what it sounds like. We will gather in the South Lounge and race each other in Mario Kart. If we have enough people, we can do a tournament.

The Friendship Bracelet Making event is designed to create a relaxed, creative, and socially engaging environment where residents can unwind, connect with others, and engage in a meaningful hands-on activity. The session will begin with a brief welcome and introduction (5–10 minutes), explaining the purpose of the event and how it ties into the wellness wheel — specifically mental and social wellbeing. We'll highlight how the activity supports mindfulness, creativity, and community building. Next, residents will receive a short tutorial (10–15 minutes) on basic bracelet-making techniques and pattern ideas. All materials — string , beads, and instructions — will be provided. The majority of the event (30–45 minutes) will be open crafting time, where participants can work at their own pace, socialize, and even collaborate or exchange bracelet designs. Facilitators will be available to help those who need extra support or inspiration. As the event wraps up, residents will be encouraged to exchange bracelets or write a small note to go with the bracelet they made — fostering connection and kindness. Atmosphere: Music, snacks, and a cozy, informal setup will help create a comfortable space where residents feel free to talk, relax, and express themselves creatively.

Come join us in the arb as we  sit by the river and play card games. Great time to connect with other residents right outside of Markley. Meet us in the Markley concourse to walk down to the arb together.

Are you new to Michigan? Are you the type who constantly gets lost? If you answered either of those questions, come hang out and take a tour of Mary Markley Hall and campus! You'll learn where to go if you are locked out of your room, where to get a replacement M-card, and generally become more familiar with campus. Bring your friends or make new ones on the way! Join us on Sunday, September 7th at 7 PM at the Markley Volleyball Court for an exciting evening on the court. This is the perfect chance to meet new people and get to know your fellow dorm mates. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to playing, everyone is welcome!

Come join us outside for an afternoon of fun, energy, and community with a Spikeball Event! Whether you’re a pro or have never played before, this is the perfect chance to learn, laugh, and connect with other residents. We’ll also take a few minutes to talk about the importance of integrating physical well-being into our routines as the semester starts heating up, because staying active is one of the best ways to manage stress and stay balanced. We’ll have music and plenty of time to play, cheer, and hang out together. Grab some friends or come on your own, teams will be mixed up so everyone gets a chance to join in. No pressure, just good vibes and a great way to meet new people while taking care of yourself.

Moving in together is exciting - but every great roommate relationship starts with clear expectations! Join us for a fun and casual event where you and your roommates can enjoy some snacks while filling out your roommate agreements.

This is the perfect chance to:

• Get on the same page: Finalize your roommate agreement together

We will walk around the arb and read the various boards and educational things here. While walking, we will chat about the benefits of staying active and connected with nature throughout our time at Markley in college.

Kick off the semester with a high-energy volleyball night! A chance for lighthearted competition and healthy movement. We’ll set up teams for casual matches (no experience needed) and rotate players to keep things inclusive. Between games, refuel with iced donuts and refreshments (lemonade and Diet Pepsi). Whether you’re spiking or cheering, this is a good way to meet some of your neighbors.

Take a break outdoors with us! We'll wander through the arb, toss a frisbee, and enjoy the chance to meet new friends! Meet near the elevator on the 6th Floor Blagdon House at 7PM.

At the “Beets, Bears, Bracelet Making” event, residents will have the opportunity to have a snack and connect with other residents through a fun activity. The bracelet making activity will include a natural icebreaker, as they engage with each other during the activity. A fun show will be playing in the background, snoring everyone has something in common that they can discuss about, creating a warm and inclusive environment. After completing the activity, residents will leave with new friendships, a sense of belonging and memories of a fun event that their RAs hosted.

Grab your roomie and join us for a night of roommate chats and refreshments while we fill out roommate agreements! The 4th Elliott RAs (Laura and Ava) will be happy to answer any questions and provide tips for living in a new community. Hope to see you there!

This event is a space for 6th Fisher and other Markley residents to create closer connections in our larger Markley community. We will be using our technology to create digital vision boards to start our year off on the right track!

Would you like to soak up the last of Ann Arbor's summer? Join RAs Chidera and Ava while they enjoy some refreshments, walk through Nichols Arboretum, and chat about the new semester! We will be meeting in front of Markley's Community Center at 4:30pm, then walking to the Arb. We encourage you to bring some friends! Hope to see you there!

Welcome to Michigan! Come down to the south lounge on Friday, September 12th at 5pm to meet your hall mates. We'll be holding fast paced meeting rounds and cycling through residents until everyone has had an opportunity to meet each other!

Join RAs Meaghan and Swati for a cozy outdoor picnic in the Markley Courtyard facing MoJo! Come hang out, enjoy snacks and drinks, and relax with friends in the golden-hour light. Bring a picnic blanket to get comfy on the grass and your cameras (we’ll have ours too!) to capture cute photos together. Whether you come with friends or on your own, we’ll make sure everyone feels included and has the chance to meet new people. It’s the perfect way to unwind, connect, and kick off the year with good vibes and community :)

Join us for a relaxing walk through the Arb, right outside of Markley! This is a chance to unwind, enjoy the trails, and get to know your fellow residents in a casual setting. After the walk, we’ll head back to Markley to grab breakfast together.

Looking for a fun and relaxing way to meet new people? Join us for a community walk on Sunday, September 14th, at 1pm through the beautiful Nichols Arboretum! This is a chance to step outside, enjoy the fresh air, and connect with fellow residents in a beautiful environment easily accessible from Markley! Whether you’re hoping to make new friends, explore the trails, or just take a mindful break from classes, this event is for you! We will meet in the concourse at Markley 5-10 minutes prior to 1pm, or you are more than welcome to meet us at the Arb entrance, hope to see you there!

RAs Peter and Matthew will pick up ice cream from the dining hall shortly before the event and bring it to the 3rd Reeves Lounge, along with bowls and spoons from the resource room. Residents will arrive at the lounge and socialize with each other and their RAs while enjoying some ice cream together. RAs Peter and Matthew will clean up the lounge after the event is finished.

Join other Mary Markley residents to play Pool! Whether you are a complete novice or a Tom-Cruise level hustler, join us for great games and even better company. We'll have games of all skill levels, and have plenty of opportunities to meet new people and enjoy a Monday night!

Come join us at South Lounge on Monday September 15th to watch Parasite! This is a great way to meet some new people, destress after a long day of classes, or just eat some popcorn and watch a movie! Feel free to bring a blanket, some comfy clothes, and as many friends as you want. We are so excited to see you there!

Need to set up some ground rules with your roommate? Stop by to knock out your roommate agreement with templates available and snacks to keep you going. RAs will be around if you want help brainstorming solutions, but otherwise it's your time to work through things your way.

Join your Markley RAs in the community learning center for a Q&A about all things college and some delicious quesadillas to go alongside as well! We can't wait to see you!

At the “Pilates in the Park” event, residents will have the opportunity to relax, recharge, and connect with one another through a mindful wellness activity. The guided Pilates session will serve as a natural icebreaker, encouraging residents to bond while moving together in a fun and supportive environment. Calming music will be playing in the background, creating a peaceful atmosphere and giving everyone something to share in conversation. After the session, residents will leave feeling refreshed, connected, and with lasting memories of a wellness-focused event hosted by their RAs. *PLEASE BRING A TOWEL OR YOGA MAT*

Come play volleyball or spike ball in the Markley courtyard! Chips + guac and lemonade will be provided too!

Residents will be welcomed, participate in a quick ice breaker, and given a quick intro: the purpose of the night is to decorate something for their dorm that makes their space feel more like home.

Come join our for morning basketball at the IM! We will all meet in the CC on the fourth floor main lobby and head over by bus together. 

Residents will meet outside the front of Markley to walk to the Arb together. RAs Peter and Matthew will pick up lemonade, iced tea, and cups beforehand and have them ready for the end of the event. The Arb Walk is simply a chance to get outside, breathe, and enjoy the beauty of the Arb with people from our community. It’s a laid-back way to meet new faces, share some laughs, and take a break from the usual campus grind. Residents will be provided drinks after the walk.

"Bump, Set, Chill" will kick off with a warm welcome and a quick name game to break the ice and set the tone. Residents will then split into rotating teams for fast-paced matches, giving everyone a chance to stay active while meeting new people. Between rounds, I’ll introduce fun twists on the game to keep the energy high and inclusive for all skill levels, and a Spikeball net will be available for even more friendly competition. Upbeat music will play throughout to keep the atmosphere lively and inviting. To close the night, residents will gather for ice cream, giving everyone the perfect chance to relax, laugh, and connect one last time before heading out.

Join Markley's 2nd Little to cultivate new relationships while unwinding with football themed coloring pages with the Michigan v Nebraska game playing in the background!
