Join the Transdisciplinary Fellows for a trip to the Cranbrook House and Gardens. Cranbrook House and Gardens are the historic home of publishing magnates George Gough Booth and Ellen Scripps Booth. The house showcases the American Arts and Crafts movement and also boasts 40 acres of gardens. We will take a tour of the house and have an hour to independently tour the gardens.

Join the TFs and GRAs for a trip to the Creature Conservancy! The Creature Conservancy is a non-profit zoological organization that promotes conservation through education. We will have a private event during which a creature conservancy educator will share some of their animals with us and talk about the work they do. Join the TFs for a tour of Michigan's football stadium! The Alumni Association is offering an upclose and personal tour of the facility, which they describe as follows: "Each Big House Tour takes you behind the scenes of the largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere. During your tour, you will get a chance to explore the Michigan locker room, visit the Jack Roth Stadium Club, and run (or walk) down the tunnel onto the field, where you can catch a pass in the end zone, kick a field goal, and take your picture on the 50-yard line."

We will walk over together. Meet in the Munger lobby at 12:20 pm. If you live in the Lawyer's Club or Northwood, please still plan to meet at Munger.  Tickets are provided free of charge, but you must register.

For nearly 20 years, Chicago-based Third Coast Percussion has forged a unique path in the musical landscape with virtuosic, energetic performances that celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion. The dazzling ensemble has been praised for “commandingly elegant” (The New York Times) performances, the “rare power” (The Washington Post) of their recordings, and “an inspirational sense of fun and curiosity.” (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

 Third Coast Percussion commissioned the late Zakir Hussain to compose Murmurs In Time, a major new work that combines the beauty and complexity of Hindustani classical music with the singular sound world of Third Coast Percussion. Salar Nader, a renowned tabla virtuoso and disciple of Hussain, will perform the piece with Third Coast Percussion as a tribute to the composer’s profound legacy. This special concert presentation also includes newly commissioned works from acclaimed composer/performers Jessie Montgomery, Tigran Hamasyan, and Jlin, as well as a solo tabla performance by Nader in honor of Hussain.

The legendary Lebanese composer, singer, and oud master Marcel Khalife returns to Ann Arbor for the first time in 20 years, joined by his son, virtuoso pianist Rami Khalife, and his nephew, cellist Sary Khalife, in a program that underscores his family’s incredible musical legacy. Revered as a cultural icon in the Arab World and beyond, Marcel Khalife is deeply attached to the text of great contemporary Arab poets and is an innovator in Arab music who draws upon traditional forms and blends Western elements to create an evocative sound that has captivated audiences around the world. His extensive body of work transcends his lyrical works to encompass groundbreaking compositions, orchestral and choral works, music for dance, and concertos for a variety of traditional Arabic instruments.

A re-imagination of The Wizard of Oz viewed through a BIPOC and queer lens, Our Oz is an entirely new work being presented on stage for the first time. Professors José Casas (head of the playwriting minor in the Department of Theatre & Drama) and Jake Hooker (head of drama at the Residential College) have led an ensemble of students from SMTD and the Residential College in exploring and experimenting with the tropes and images of multiple renditions from the Land of Oz as originally conceived by L. Frank Baum. The resulting work is fresh, insightful, and reflective of the times we live in.
